About Punjab Food Authority
The Punjab Food Authority operates under the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department of the Government of Punjab and is responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of food across the province. Its work includes food inspection, laboratory testing and enforcement of food-safety standards to protect consumers. Eligibility Criteria for Punjab Food Authority Jobs (August) 2026
1. Microbiologist — BS-16
- Qualification (Option A): MS, M.Sc (Hons) or M.Phil in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, or Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, or an equivalent degree from an HEC-recognized university.
- Qualification (Option B): Master’s, B.Sc (Hons) or BS in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, or Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, or an equivalent degree from an HEC-recognized university, with two years’ relevant experience acquired after the qualification.
- Nature of Experience: Experience in microbiological testing, equipment handling, chemical handling, good laboratory practices, and hands-on experience of pathogen testing and real-time PCR testing.
- Age Limit: Male 23 to 35 years and Female 23 to 38 years (inclusive of relaxation). The age and gender of transgender applicants will be based on the details in their CNIC.
- Domicile: Any district of Punjab (All Punjab basis).
- Note: Only practical experience in the relevant field, gained after the prescribed qualification, will be considered.
Written Test / Selection Process
If held, the written examination will consist of one MCQ-type paper of 100 marks and 90 minutes’ duration. The syllabus comprises qualification-related questions (100%). Schedules and syllabus, if any, are issued only on the official PPSC website, so candidates should check it regularly.

- Employees of the Federal Government, semi-government, autonomous bodies and local bodies are not entitled to age concession for their period of service in such organizations.
- Candidates claiming an equivalent qualification must submit an equivalence certificate issued by the HEC or the relevant Q.E.D.C. at the time of interview, failing which their candidature may be cancelled.
- Candidates claiming private-sector experience must provide proof at the interview that the firm/entity is registered with SECP, the Registrar of Firms, or another regulatory authority.
- In-service candidates must obtain or apply for NOC/DPC from their department and provide it at the time of interview (if called).
- Candidates must obtain or apply for the required registration certificate from PEC/PNC/PMDC/PMC/PVMC or the relevant regulatory body on or before the closing date.
- The Shorthand Test and Typing & Proficiency Test, if required, will only be held at Lahore.
- In case of any variation (increase/decrease) in the number of posts, no fresh applications will be invited.
Application Fee
The application fee is Rs. 600, which must be paid digitally against a 17-digit PSID (Payment Slip ID) generated on the official PPSC portal. Payment can be made through the approved mediums — ATMs, mobile phone banking, internet banking, over the counter at 1-Link member bank branches, JazzCash, Easypaisa, U Paisa and other available micro-finance banks — on or before the closing date.
