FPSC PMD Jobs 2026 – Apply Online

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), under the Ministry of Defence, has announced job opportunities for the year 2026 through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) under Consolidated Advertisement No. 3/2026. Applications are invited from qualified candidates for various scientific, engineering and administrative posts.

A total of 50 vacancies are available across 9 posts ranging from BS-16 to BS-19, including Director / Principal Meteorologist, Deputy Director, Meteorologist, Electronic Engineer, Programmer and more. About Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) is a scientific department under the Ministry of Defence, responsible for providing meteorological, seismological and geophysical services across Pakistan. Recruitment to its scientific, engineering and administrative posts is conducted through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) on merit and quota basis.

Eligibility Criteria for FPSC PMD Jobs (August) 2026

1. Director / Principal Meteorologist (BS-19)

• Qualification: Ph.D. or M.Phil / MS or Second Class / Grade ‘C’ Master’s / Bachelor’s (16 years education) in Meteorology, Seismology, Hydro-Meteorology, Hydrology, Geophysics, Geology, Geography, Physical Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Environmental / Climate / Atmospheric / Earth Sciences, Satellite Meteorology, Remote Sensing & GIS, Space Sciences, Agriculture Meteorology or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university.
• Experience: 8 years (Ph.D.), 10 years (M.Phil / MS), or 12 years (Master’s / Bachelor’s) post-qualification experience in the relevant field in BS-17 and/or above.
• Age: 32–40 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Punjab (Open Merit) 1, Sindh Rural (Open Merit) 1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Open Merit) 1, Balochistan (Open Merit) 1.

2. Deputy Director / Senior Meteorologist (BS-18)

• Qualification: Second Class / Grade ‘C’ Master’s / Bachelor’s (16 years education) in Meteorology or a related discipline (as listed above) from an HEC-recognized university.
• Experience: 5 years’ post-qualification experience in the relevant field in BS-17 from a public / private sector organization.
• Age: 25–35 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Punjab 3 (Open Merit 2, Minorities / Non-Muslims 1), Sindh Rural 1, Sindh Urban 1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1, AJK 1.

3. Electronic Engineer (BS-17)

• Qualification: B.E / B.Sc Engineering or equivalent in Electronics / Mechatronics / Electrical or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university, with registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
• Age: 22–30 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Merit 1, Punjab (Open Merit) 2, Sindh Rural (Open Merit) 1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Open Merit) 1.

4. Meteorologist (BS-17)

• Qualification: Second Class / Grade ‘C’ Master’s / Bachelor’s (16 years education) in Meteorology or a related discipline (as listed above) from an HEC-recognized university.
• Age: 22–30 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Punjab 4 (Open Merit 2, Women quota 1, Minorities / Non-Muslims 1), Sindh Rural (Open Merit) 1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Open Merit) 1.

5. Programmer (BS-17)

• Qualification: Second Class / Grade ‘C’ Master’s / Bachelor’s (16 years education) in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Programming, Software Engineering, Computer Information System or Data Sciences or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university.
• Age: 22–30 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Punjab (Open Merit) 1, Balochistan (Open Merit) 1.

6. Administrative Officer (BS-17)

• Qualification: Second Class / Grade ‘C’ Master’s / Bachelor’s (16 years education) in Management Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration or Human Resource Management or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university.
• Age: 22–30 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Punjab (Open Merit) 2, Sindh Rural (Open Merit) 1, EX-FATA (Open Merit) 1.

7. Workshop Engineer (BS-17)

• Qualification: B.E / B.Sc Engineering or equivalent in Mechatronics / Mechanical / Electrical or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university, with registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
• Age: 22–30 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Punjab (Open Merit) 1. Place of posting: Karachi / anywhere in Pakistan.

8. Assistant Meteorologist (BS-16)

• Qualification: Second Class / Grade ‘C’ Master’s / Bachelor’s (16 years education) in Meteorology or a related discipline (as listed above) from an HEC-recognized university.
• Age: 20–28 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Merit 2, Punjab 9 (Open Merit 7, Women quota 1, Minorities / Non-Muslims 1), Sindh Rural 2, Sindh Urban 1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2, Balochistan 1, EX-FATA 1.

9. Assistant Electronic Engineer (BS-16)

• Qualification: B.E / B.Sc Engineering or equivalent in Electronics / Mechatronics / Electrical or equivalent from an HEC-recognized university, with registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
• Age: 20–28 years (+5 years relaxation).
• Quota: Punjab (Open Merit) 1, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Open Merit) 1, Balochistan (Open Merit) 1.

Application Fee

• BS-16 to BS-17: Rs. 600
• BS-18: Rs. 1,500
• BS-19: Rs. 2,500
• BS-20 and above: Rs. 3,000
• The fee is deposited on or before the closing date online against a dedicated PSID (generated by the FPSC Online Portal), paid via 1-Link facility (ATM / mobile banking / EasyPaisa / JazzCash), over the counter or other mobile apps.

General Instructions

• Eligibility of candidates will be determined as per the Commission’s policy laid down in the General Instructions displayed on the FPSC website.
• All applications must be submitted online through the FPSC website; no manual / hard-copy application will be accepted for general recruitment.

• Online applications may be edited only once within the closing date to rectify any error / omission; information claimed will be treated as final.
• Subsequent claims of experience not given in the online form will not be accepted.
• Age relaxation is allowed as per the Initial Appointment to Civil Posts (Relaxation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1993.
• Candidates will be shortlisted for interview as per the policy of the Commission.
